Unidentified Flying Object (UFO)
An Unidentified Flying Object is something not visible by people or by radar. Major UFO sightings proved to be distortions of conventional objects, of optical and celestial phenomenons, hallucinations, or practical jokes
A small percentage of sightings remains without any explanation
There is not a certain date for the first UFO sighting; researchers link the beginning of UFO phenomenon to the sightings of mysterious-looking aircraft over the United States, in 1896-97
Important sightings were reported during the Second World War by Allied and Axis pilots
The pilots reported seeing strange metal-like objects; they referred to them as "foo fighters"; these objects performed acrobatic movements around the pilots' airplanes
In 1946 many civilians, particularly in Scandinavia, referred to having seen some sort of object resembling a "stealth-like missile"; no logical explanation was found, regarding these sightings
UFO phenomenon came into the public eye on June 24, 1947 when an american pilot, Kenneth Arnold, claimed to have seen nine circular objects flying around his airplane, over Washington State; because of his description, these objects came to be known as "flying saucer"
Such shapes have been observed more and more: objects with the shape of a cigar, of a square, of a balloon, trangles, rings and hats; moreover not delimited objects and shape-changing
There were sightings in any near country
Waves of sightings happened in France and in Italy (1954), in New Guinea (1958), in USSR (1967). In the U.S. of America there were wave sightings every ten years; UFO researchers couldn't give an explanation to those wave sightings
Leaving alone the isteric tries of fool minds that are certain about intelligent aliens, the "U.S. Air Force" studied the UFO phenomenon since 1948 to 1969 following the "Blue Book" project
After having sought for informations for 21 years, the conclusion was that the UFO phenomenon didn't represent any menace for the national safety; and it could be not linked to any extraterrestrial origin
In 1953 the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) said USSR could be able to use the isteric phenomenon of flying saucers as a psychological weapon against the United States
So since 1953 to 1969 the "U.S. Air Force" never considered the hypotesis that UFO could be an unique or anomalous phenomenon by themselves, being careful about the incidence that such phenomenon had over people
